PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY IN UKRAINE
Pharmaceutical industry in Ukraine has dynamic and undergoing improvements. The development of this industry is a matter of national security. Formation of national priorities in the sector of health care is under the reform now. It includes production of pharmaceuticals and medical products, wholesale and retail trade, specialized storage and distribution (distribution) with an established distribution network (pharmacy, drugstore items, etc.). The pharmaceutical industry has a notable place in the economy of Ukraine, as it is an important segment of the national market, distinguished by high science absorbing and developed cooperation
Today in Ukraine, licensed to manufacture medicinal medic 127 entities. Since the beginning of this year, the number of licensees has decreased by 10%, due to the introduction of additional terms in the license business of drug manufacturing. This step is essential to ensure that people get-quality medicines.
However, despite the certain decrease of number of internal volume of the pharmaceutical market of Ukraine in 2010 amounted to more than 25 billion. In the first quarter of this year its volume rose compared with the corresponding period of 2010 in local currency by almost 18%. Under the leading domestic manufacturers of drugs are: by "FF" Darnitsa "Corporation" Arterium "(JSC" Kievmedpreparat "and JSC" Halychpharm "), LLC FC" Health "CJC" Borschagovsky HFZ ", JSC" Farmak". Consumer price index for medicines in March 2011 is 102.2%, while the Consumer price index – 103.3%.Producer price index of pharmaceuticals and materials is 101.5% (up to December 2010), while the price index of industrial production – 108.4%. However, the index of pharmaceutical products during this period has increased and is now it 102.7%, and the index of industrial production – 109.7% (the corresponding period of 2010).
Exports of pharmaceutical products in the first quarter of 2011, the national currency – 3.3% decreased in comparison with the corresponding period of 2010, although up to 2010 we could see increase in exports of pharmaceutical products, both in national currency by 34.2 %. The volume of imports of pharmaceutical products in 2010 compared to 2009,has grown in national currency by 16.5%. In the first quarter 2011volume of imports increased by 16.2% in local currency.
Sales of medical products of domestic production in value terms in 2010 were 24.5%, import – 75.5%. However, the volume of sales of medicines in the kind of domestic production is 69%, and foreign – 31%. This fact affects the export-import balance of Ukraine.
In recent years, it is obviously watched the increasing of pharmacies network. Today there are handles 6,446 entities in Ukraine.
Condition pharmaceutical activity is improving each year, but remains in the state great quantity problems that require reasonable decide. In Ukraine development pharmaceutical industry significantly inhibits the lack of state control, leading to adverse effects: creating the unequal conditions for market access of medicines domestic and imported due to the lack of stimulation of domestic drug manufacturers to develop and implement new original drugs, and increase export capacity, transparency of public procurement for the needs health, slowing the rate of counterfeit pharmaceutical products, irrational use of medicines, uncontrolled growth of price of medicines and medical products, low level of training.
In Ukraine it is necessary provide outstanding control over the implementation of the requirements of medicines. Such actions will help to improve the work of national distributors accordance with international standards at all stages currently. Only for effective and safe medical products with guaranteed quality will be opened the market inUkraine in order to maximize the needs of the population.
You also need to take proper measures to meet the needs of pharmaceutical diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases of the groups that own the largest share morbidity and mortality of Ukraine using local medicines with proven effective and safety at an affordable price, the formation of the list of Essential drugs for basis of the disease population to tighten control over food products and additives for special dietary use.
